Sometimes Things just don't Turn Out How You Imagine

This card is an example of what I said I wasn't going to do yesterday.  I said I wasn't going to make cards just for challenges.  But as I was looking thru my lis I saw that Scrappy Moms had a challenge using Paisley and Cardz Tv had one using the card feature on a cartridge.  So I saw that Paisley had a card feature with a cut out paisley.  I figured I would back the hole with glitter, then make the layers smaller and add them on top.  However when I cut the card I saw it had a tab on the back and it was more like an envelope.  So I cut it again using my gypsy to modify it. Didn't work.  So I backed the whole with sticky tape, added glitter and the layers.  The card part looked terrible, so I cut around the paisley and added it to a  blank card that I had got on sale at Paper Source.  It turned out well, but not how I visioned.  I usually take photos in sunlight, however I took so long that it was not very sunny.  So I taped the card to a piece of paper, then taped it to a window. So that's why there is tape on top
I am just going to give the products I used because I modified everything so much I don't know the dimensions

A Child's Year for a Friend Who lost Her Dog

My friend, Casey, Lost her dog on Easter Sunday.  Bailey was a beautiful, sweet Manchester Terrier whose heart gave out.  I went back and forth on what kind of card to make.  when our children were younger, Casey and I went camping a lot and Bailey would follow the kids around.  My son was a baby and we would put him in the playpen with Bailey.
My son was really being a pain last night, I had completed the center portion and was sitting at my table about to stamp the sentiment when I got hit in the arm with a ball.  It only affected the "G" So I didn't redo it. You gotta love 13 year old boys who think they are so funny.

About Challenges-A couple week ago I found myself making cards for challenges and cards that would fit into many challenges.  I started to loose focus.  And I decided to go about it diferently.  Now I write down all of the challenges as I read thru blogs.  Then I decide what kind of card I want to make, make the card and find a challenge to fit the card.  I use these challenges to grow as a designer so I will probably only enter a card into 1 or 2 challenges.

I see that CCCC-Cricut-Cartridge-Chaos-Challenge is  having a challenge using "A Child's Year"  http://twoscraptasticgals.blogspot.com/2011/04/cricut-cartridge-chaos-challenge-15.html

Japanese themed Mothers Day Card for My Sister-In-Law

I have been wanting to use the Pagoda cartridge for a long time, but I didn't know what the Kanji symbols meant until I put my reading glasses on and was able to read the very small print at the bottom of Kanji word section.  So I decided to make the card using the word as the card base and the tag for the center  Later in the week I am going to use the same card base in bright colors with flowers or animals.

It is hard to see the mono chromatic effect of the center crane.  It is a very glittery crane on white cardstock.
FORMULA
Cut English word "MOTHER" at 8" using black textured Colorbok cardstock (page 60 of Cricut Pagoda Cartridge)Cut crane tag 3 times at 2"(pg40)
Back word with sticky tape(Sookwang) Add glitter(Crystal Glitter Ritz) Do same to tags using Martha Stewart Red glitter for two outer images and clear for center
Add Ribbon(Michaels) using ATG tape
Adhere cranes to card

Post Delay due to after effects of Stevie Nicks and Rod Stewart Concert

I had two projects to post today.  however I am exhausted.  Last night I went to see Rod Stewart and Stevie Nicks.  Stevie sounds just as good as she did when I first saw her in the 70's at a Day On The Green.  Rod Stewart is an amazing dancer and stage presence.  There was a very talented violinist and sax player.  I got home at midnight and had to finish a few projects I was working on for a going away party for a gal I work with and I had to start a salad to bring to the party. Anyway I didnt get to bed until after 1 am and had to get up at 5am for work.  So have a good night. I'll be back with some projects tomorrow.
